Poems

i wish you were mine

sitting here with nothing to do,

thinking of how much i want to be with you

these feelings i have to i don;t always show,

but now i'm telling-i want you to know

we've been through it all

good times and bad

i'm not alawys happy, you do make me sad

you sometimes act like you don't care

but this hardly happens its almost rare

we're not together, i wish we were

we're not together you've chosen her

she seems to be better

in everything and more,

i don't even know

what i am hanging around for

you hurt my feelings and made me cry

but i don't know why i continue to try.

i guess i just love you

and get carried away

i wish you were mine

to have everyday.

Never Say Forever

Never say I love you

If you really don't care

Never talk about feelings

If they aren't really there

Never hold my hand

If you are going to break my heart

Never say you are going to

If you don't plan to start

Never look into my eyes

If all you do is lie

Never say hello

If you really mean good bye

If you really mean forever

Then say you will try

Never say forever

Cause forever makes me cry.

"Always Loving You"

In the quietness of the moment
I wonder how you are;
We may be far apart in distance
But from my thoughts you are never far.

I don't know what tomorrow holds
The future I cannot see;
So I will take today for what it is worth
And be glad that you love me.

Tomorrow does not stand apart
a shiny brand new day;
It is the tapestry we weave
Made up of yesterdays.

Thank you for sharing with me
A portion of yourself;
I know you will never be mine
But the part you have given to me
Will never belong to anyone else.

So I will try to live my life
Separated by the two;
Doing the things I am supposed to do
And yet always loving you.

~~ Life ~~

"I may never see tomorrow, there is no written guarantee,
and the things that happened yesterday, belong to history
I cannot predict the future, I cannot change the past,
I have just the precious present moments,
I must treat it as my last."

"I must use this moment wisely for it soon will pass away,
and be lost forever,
as a part of yesterday
I must exercise the compassion
help the fallen to their fort,
Be a friend unto the friendless,
make an empty life complete.

"The unkind things I do today may never be undone
and the friendships that I fail to win
may nevermore be won,
I may not have another chance on bended knees to pray,
and I thank God, with a humble heart
for giving me this day."

No one can go back and make a brand new start. Anyone
can start from now and make a brand new ending. God didn't
promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow,
sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the
day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.
Disappointments are like road humps, they slow you
down a bit but you enjoy the smooth road afterwards.
Don't stay on the humps too long. Move on!
When you feel down because you didn't get what you
want, just sit tight and be happy, because God is
thinking of something better to give you.
When something happens to you, good or bad, consider
what it means. There's a purpose to life's events, to
teach you how to laugh more or not to cry too hard.
You can't make someone love you, all you can do is be
someone who can be loved, the rest is up to the person
to realize your worth.
The measure of love is when you love without measure.
In life there are very rare chances that you'll meet
the person you love and loves you in return. So once
you have it don't ever let go, the chance might never
come your way again.
It's better to lose your pride to the one you love,
than to lose the one you love because of pride.
We spend too much time looking for the right person to
love or finding fault with those we already love, when
instead we should be perfecting the love we give.
When you truly care for someone, you don't look for
faults, you don't look for answers, you don't look for
mistakes. Instead, you fight the mistakes, you accept
the faults, and you overlook the excuses.
Never abandon an old friend. You will never find one
who can take his place. Friendship is like wine, it
gets better as it grows older.

I’ve learned....
That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.

I've learned....
That when you're in love, it shows.

I've learned....
That just one person saying to me, "You've made my day!" makes my day.

I've learned....
That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.

I've learned....
That being kind is more important than being right.

I've learned....
That you should never say "no" to a gift from a child.

I've learned....
That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in some other way.

I've learned....
That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.

I've learned....
That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.

I've learned....
That simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult.

I've learned....
That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

I've learned....
That we should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for.

I've learned....
That money doesn't buy class.

I've learned....
That it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.

I've learned...
That under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.

I've learned....
That the Lord didn't do it all in one day. What makes me think I can?

I've learned....
That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.

I've learned....
That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.

I've learned....
That love, not time, heals all wounds.

I've learned....
That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.

I've learned....
That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.

I've learned....
That there's nothing sweeter than sleeping with your babies and feeling their breath on your cheeks.

I've learned....
That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.

I've learned....
That life is tough, but I'm tougher.

I've learned....
That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.

I've learned....
That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

I've learned....
That I wish I could have told my Dad that I love him one more time before he passed away.

I've learned....
That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.

I've learned....
That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

I've learned....
That I can't choose how I feel, but I can choose what I do about it.

I've learned....
That when your newly born child holds your little finger in his little fist, that you're hooked for life.

I've learned....
That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.

I've learned ...
That it is best to give advice in only two circumstances; when it is requested and when it is a life-threatening situation.

I've learned....
That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

YOU ARE MY FRIEND AND I AM HONORED

I BELIEVE

I believe in miracles
and dreams that will come true.
I believe in tender moments
and friendship, through and through.

I believe in stardust
and moonbeams all aglow.
I believe there's magic
and more there than we know.

I believe in reaching out
and touching from the heart.
I believe that if we touch
a gift we can impart.

I believe that if you cry
your tears are not in vain.
And when you're sad and lonely,
others know your pain.

I believe that when we laugh
a sparkle starts to shine.
And I just know that spark will spread
from more hearts than just mine.

I believe that hidden
in the quiet of the night,
there are magic moths and gypsies,
a fairy and a sprite.

I believe that if you dance
the dances of your heart,
that greater happiness will find
a brand new way to start.

I believe the gifts you have
are there for you to share
And when you give then from the heart,
the whole world knows you care

I believe that if you give,
even just to one,
that gift will grow in magnitude
before the day is done.

I believe that comfort comes
from giving part of me.
And if I share with others,
there's more for all to see.

I believe that love is still
the greatest gift of all
and when it's given from the heart
then not one of us will fall.

"The Road Of Life"

At first I saw God as my observer, my judge,
keeping track of the things I did wrong,
so as to know whether I merited heaven or hell when I die,
He was our there sort of like a president.
I recognized His picture but I didn't really know him.

But later on, when I met Christ
it seemed as though life were rather like a bike ride.
but it was a tandem bike,
and I noticed that Christ was in the back helping me pedal.

I don't know just when it was that He suggested
we change places,
but life has not been the same since.

When I had control, I knew the way
It was rather boring and predictable...
It was the shortest distance between two points.

But when He took the lead, He knew delightful long cuts
up mountains and through rocky places at break-neck
speeds, it was all I could do to hang on!
Even though it looked like madness, He said, "Pedal!"

I worried and was anxious and asked, "Where are you
taking me?" He laughed and didn't answer,
and I started to learn to trust.

I forgot my boring life and entered into the adventure.
And when I'd say, " I'm scared!" He'd lean back and
touch my hand.

He took me to people with gifts that I needed, gifts of
healing, acceptance, and joy.
They gave me gifts to take on my journey, my Lord's and mine.

And we were off again. He said, "Give the gifts away;
they're extra baggage, too much weight." So I did to the
people we met, and I found that in giving I received,
and still our burden was light.

I did not trust Him, at first, in control of my life,
I thought He'd wreck it; but he knows bike secrets,
knows how to make it bend to make sharp corners,
knows how to jump to clear high rocks,
knows how to fly to shorten scary passages.

And I am learning to shut up and pedal
in the strangest places,
and beginning to enjoy the view,
and the cool breeze on my face,
with my delightful constant companion,
JESUS CHRIST.

And when I'm sure I just can't do anymore,
He just smiles and says . . . .
"Pedal."

~THOSE WHO TOUCH OUR LIVES~

Every special person who touches our life,
Leaves their own unique mark on our heart.
A mark which can never be chizzled away,
Even if the years eventually pull us apart.

We can take on their expressions and such,
The more we share of ourselves together.
It's those little things about another person,
Which can remain a part in us forever.

People who we have met throughout our life,
Become a part of the person who we are today.
We learn and we grow from the relationships;
Each one touching us, in it's own special way.

We laugh about spending too much time together,
When we think we have become like each other.
But it just shows how much we've been touched,
By the relationship we have found with another.

Those special people who can touch our lives,
Are like precious jewels amongst life's treasures.
They shine on us and leave a lasting impression;
An unique mark on our heart;
A gift without measures.

The Power of Love
by Helen Steiner Rice

There is no thinking person
who can stand untouched today
And view the world around us
drifting downward to decay

Without feeling deep within them
a silent unnamed dread,
Wondering how to stem the chaos
that lies frightfully ahead...

But the problems we are facing
cannot humanly be solved
For our diplomatic strategy
only gets us more involved

And our skillful ingenuity,
our technology and science
Can never change a sinful heart
filled with hatred and defiance...

So our problems keep on growing
every hour of every day
As man vainly tries to solve them
in his own SELF-WILLFUL WAY...

But man is powerless alone
to CLEAN UP THE WORLD OUTSIDE...
Until his own polluted soul
is CLEAN and FREE INSIDE...

For the amazing power of love
is beyond all comprehension
And it alone can heal this world
of its hatred and dissention.

  WHY WOMEN CRY

Why are you crying, a young boy asked his Mom?

"Because I'm a woman," she told him.

  "I don't understand," he said.

His Mom just hugged him and said,
"And you never will, but that's O.K.".......

Later the little boy asked his father,
"Why does Mom seem to cry for no reason?".
"All women cry for no reason," was all his Dad could say......

The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry.

Finally he put in a call to God and when God got back to him, he asked
"God, why do women cry so easily?"

  GOD answered......

  "When I made woman,
I decided she had to be special.
I made her shoulders strong enough
to carry the weight of the world, yet,
made her arms gentl! e enough to give comfort...

I gave her the inner strength
to endure childbirth and the rejection
that many times will come even from her own children.

  I gave her a hardness
that allows her to keep going and take care of her family and friends,
even when everyone else gives up, through sickness and fatigue without
 complaining....

I gave her the sensitivity to love her children
under any and all circumstances. Even when her child has hurt her
 badly....

She has the very special power to make a child's boo-boo feel better and
to quell a teenager's anxieties and fears....

I gave her strength to care for her husband, despite faults and I
fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart....

I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but
 sometimes tests her strengths
and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly....

For all of this hard work,!
I also gave her a tear to shed.
It is hers to use whenever needed and it is her only weakness....

  When you see her cry,
tell her how much you love her, and all she does for
everyone, and even though she may still cry, you will have made her heart
 feel good.

  She is special!

Please send this to women you know, and those with mothers, sisters, and
 special women in their lives.

But, also send this to men so they will understand about what a wonderful
 thing a woman is.

Each day is a mountain that must be climbed; with courage each step gets
 easier.

ICE CREAM FOR THE SOUL

Last week I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked
if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good. God
is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Mom
gets us ice cream for dessert. And liberty and justice for all! Amen!"
Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby I heard a woman
remark. "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even
know how to pray. Asking God for ice-cream! Why, I never!"

Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me, "Did I do it wrong?
Is God mad at me?" As I held him and assured him that he had done a
terrific job and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman
approached the table. He winked at my son and said, "I happen to know
that God thought that was a great prayer."

"Really?" my son asked. "Cross my heart," the man replied. Then in a
theatrical whisper he added (indicating the woman whose remark had
started this whole thing), "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A
little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes."

Naturally, I bought my kid ice cream at the end of the meal. My son
stared at his for a moment and then did something I will remember the
rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and without a word, walked over
and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her,
"Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes, and
my soul is good already."

 GOD BLESS THE CHILDREN

God bless the children who have to run twice as fast
Just to keep up.
Whose bodies or minds limit them
From even the simplest of tasks
That others can do with ease
And simply take for granted.
God bless the children
Whose dreams sometimes fall by the wayside
Because they`ve never been told they should have any...
Those who are seldom, if ever, recognized
For what they`ve done,
What they believe,
Or who they are.
God bless the  children
Whose beauty goes unseen
By those who can`t get past
The person they see on the outside.
God bless the children whose potential is decided
Before they`re given a chance to try--
Those who require more sheer willpower in their guts
To learn,
To compete,
Or just get through the day.
God bless the children whose characters are molded
By those who may not care,
Or have the time,
Or were never molded themselves.
God bless the children
Who can find pity in their hearts
For ones who miss out on the blessings
Of knowing people like them.
And most of all, God bless those children
Who can take their difficulty
And somehow turn it into good,
Who can someday grow up
To open their hearts and their arms
To children just like them.

IN THE VALLEYS I GROW

Sometimes life seems hard to bear,
Full of sorrow, trouble and woe
It's then I have to remember
That it's in the valleys I grow.

If I always stayed on the mountain top
And never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God's love
And would be living in vain.

I have so much to learn
And my growth is very slow,
Sometimes I need the mountain tops,
But it's in the valleys I grow.

I do not always understand
Why things happen as they do,
But I am very sure of one thing.
My Lord will see me through.

My little valleys are nothing
When I picture Christ on the cross
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan's loss.

Forgive me Lord, for complaining
When I'm feeling so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder
That it's in the valleys I grow.

Continue to strengthen me, Lord
And use my life each day
To share your love with others
And help them find their way.

Thank you for valleys, Lord
For this one thing I know
The mountain tops are glorious
But it's in the valleys I grow!

Right now!  Whatever you're doing,
Stop ~ and start to forget...
every time you were rejected,
neglected,
passed over,
disrespected.

Every lover who left you,
every boss who upset you,
every barb that stung you,
every dream that escaped you...
has no meaning, no weight,
can't diminish your fate, unless...

You accept it,
take possession of it,
own it,
embrace it.

Right now!  Here, in this moment...
don't even wait,
until it's too late.
Take the time to reject,
dispossess,
discard the mess...
of all your detractors,
the impostors,
the manipulators,
the calculators,
and the exterminators.

You're on a pedestal,
with countless honors and medals.
You never have to settle...
for anything less than better.

Right here!  Right now!
Stand up tall and be proud!
You don't even need to say it.
Your belief alone will display it.
Accept the truth and run with it.
But remember to be humble in it,
and at every opportunity give it...
by remembering from whence you came,
and who you are.
Just live it ~ Right now!

LETTER FROM GOD TO ALL WOMEN

When I created the heavens and the earth, I spoke them into being. When I
created man,I formed him and breathed life into his nostrils.
But you, woman,
I fashioned after I breathed the breath of life into man because your
nostrils are too delicate. I allowed a deep sleep to come over him so I could
patiently and perfectly fashion you. Man was put to sleep so that he could
not interfere with the creativity.
From one bone, I fashioned you.  I chose the bone that protects man's life.
I chose the rib, which protects his heart and lungs and supports him, as you
are meant to do. Around this one bone, I shaped you.......I modeled you. I
created you perfectly and beautifully. Your characteristics are as the rib,
strong yet delicate and fragile. You provide protection for the most delicate
organ in man, his heart. His heart is the center of his being; his lungs hold
the breath of life. The ribcage will allow itself to be broken before it will
allow damage to the heart. Support man as the rib cage supports the body.
You were not taken from his feet, to be under him, nor were you taken from
his head, to be above him. You were taken from his side, to stand beside him
and be held close to his side.
You are my perfect angel.....
You are my beautiful little girl.
You have grown to be a splendid woman of excellence, and my eyes fill when I
see the virtues in your heart. Your eyes......don't change them. Your lips,
how lovely when they part in prayer. Your nose, so perfect in form. Your
hands so gentle to touch. I've caressed your face in your deepest sleep. I've
held your heart close to mine. Of all that lives and breathes, you are most
like me.
Adam walked with me in the cool of the day, yet he was lonely. He could not
see me or touch me. He could only feel me. So everything I wanted Adam to
share and experience with me, I fashioned in you; my holiness, my strength,
my purity, my love, my protection and support. You are special because you
are an extension of me.
Man represents my image, woman my emotions.
Together, you represent the totality of God.
So man......treat woman well.
Love her, respect her, for she is fragile.
In hurting her, you hurt me.
What you do to her, you do to me.
In crushing her, you only damage your own heart, the heart of your Father,
and the heart of her Father.
Woman, support man.
In humility, show him the power of emotion
I have given you.
In gentle quietness, show your strength.
In love, show him that you are the rib
that protects his inner self.
Did you not know that as a woman, YOU are special in God's eyes
Friends, I hope you know how special you really are. One of God's very own
miracles!! Take care of yourselves and thank Him for the blessings of every
day!
Ladies think about this and see how very special you really are .

May I Go Now?

Don’t you think the time is right?

May I say goodbye to pain filled days
And endless lonely nights?
I’ve lived my life and done my best,
An example tried to be,
So can I take that step beyond
And set my spirit free?

I didn’t want to go at first
I fought with all my might!
But something seems to draw me now
To a warm and loving light.
I want to go! I really do!
It’s difficult to stay.
But I will try as best I can
To live just one more day.

To give you time to care for me
And share your love and fears.
I know
you're sad and are afraid
Because I see your tears.
I’ll not be far, I promise that,
And I hope you will always know
That my spirit will be close to you
Wherever you may go.

Thank you for loving me,
You know I loved you too.
That’s why it is hard to say goodbye
And end this life with you.
So hold me now, just one more time,
And let me hear you say,
Because you care so much for me,
You’ll let me go today.
